Olympique de Marseille boss André Villas-Boas has made it clear that he is expecting no winter reinforcements despite his side's slow start to the season.

The Portuguese coach lost several big-name players in the off-season (Mario Balotelli, Luiz Gustavo, Lucas Ocampos and Adil Rami) and thus knew that the beginning of his reign at the Orange Vélodrome would have its difficulties.

Tough times

Now eighth on the Ligue 1 Conforama table and without a win in their last four league outings, Olympique de Marseilleare short on points and also contending with several long-term injuries - notably that of France star Florian Thauvin - and a four-match suspension for playmaker Dimitri Payet.

Although new striker Dario Benedetto is getting among the goals, with summer recruit Alvaro Gonzalez showing some promising signs in defence, midfielder Valentin Rongier is taking time to settle and, according to the coach, there will be no more arrivals in the 2019-20 campaign.

AVB: 'Only the owner can answer that'

"The problem is that we are in an almost disastrous financial situation, and we have to wait a little while before making any investments," declared Villas-Boas, whose side have won three, drawn four and lost two including their last outing, Week 9's trip to Amiens. "Will we make signings in January? I don't think so. But only the owner can answer that question. But, according to the information I currently have, I don't think so."
