Amiens scored an important point in their battle to avoid the drop as they drew 0-0 at home to Strasbourg in a game short of excitement.

THE MATCH

The two teams cancelled each other out throughout and in the first half there wasn't a single shot on target. Amiens belatedly threatened (48') when Moussa Konaté got the better of Stefan Mitrovic and got away a right-footed shot that flashed past Matz Sels' right post.

Steven Mendoza (53') at least made Sels work, even if the save was comfortable, and then Cheick Timité (58') lacked precision with his effort as the match stubbornly refused to come alive.

Ibrahima Sissoko (77') fired well over Régis Gurtner's bar as Coupe de la Ligue champions Strasbourg showed little going forward, although Thierry Laurey's men tightened up defensively after conceding three in each of their previous two games, in drawing against Guingamp and defeat to Montpellier.

Amiens could really have done with the three points but Sehrou Guirassy (86') couldn't direct a header from a Saman Ghoddos free-kick on target. Caen winning added to Amiens nerves and they have a four-point margin over the 18th-placed club with four games remaining.

THE PLAYER: Régis Gurtner

Reliable skipper Régis Gurtner has been a difficult man to beat in recent weeks and the 32-year-old goalkeeper has helped Amiens to six clean sheets in their last 11 Ligue 1 Conforama outings. That solidity could help the club retain their top division status.

THE STAT: 6

Amiens are unbeaten in six home Ligue 1 Conforama matches (3W, 3D), while Strasbourg have failed to win any of their last six away games (4D, 2L). It is the first time in Amiens' top-flight history that they have gone six in a row unbeaten at home.
