A brilliant LOSC blew away 10-man Paris Saint-Germain at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, claiming a stunning 5-1 win to postpone the capital club's title celebrations a little longer.

LOSC  5 - 1  Paris Saint-Germain

THE MATCH

Having missed the chance to wrap up their second straight Ligue 1 Conforama crown a week ago, PSG came to Lille knowing a point was all they required to finish the job with seven games still to play. However, they ended up suffering just their second league loss of the season, letting in five goals in the league for the first time in 19 years.

It was a dreadul night practically from beginning to end for Paris, who fell behind in the seventh minute when Jonathan Ikoné's cross from the right was diverted into his own net by the unfortunate Thomas Meunier.

PSG were quickly back on level terms, however, as Kylian Mbappé held up a ball towards the left side of the penalty box for Juan Bernat to arrive and finish for his first Ligue 1 Conforama goal since signing from Bayern Munich last August.

Bernat off

However, within a minute of that, the visitors had lost Thiago Silva to injury, with Thilo Kehrer taking his place. Then Meunier was forced off with an apparent hamstring problem midway through the first half, and things got worse for Thomas Tuchel's side when Bernat was shown a straight red card for pulling back the outstanding Nicolas Pépé as he bore down on goal and looked set to latch onto a high ball over the top (36').

It was not all plain sailing for Lille, who lost their centre-back and captain Adama Soumaoro to injury in first-half stoppage time, with Gabriel replacing him. Nevertheless, they came back out after half-time and blew the champions-elect away in stunning fashion.

Sensational

Kehrer somehow headed wide from a Leandro Paredes delivery just after the restart, and he was made to regret that miss as Pépé was sent through at the other end, latching onto Ikoné's sensational ball to finish under Alphonse Aréola for his 19th goal of the campaign (51').

It got worse for PSG as Ikoné released Jonathan Bamba to blast home in the 65th minute, moments after he had squandered a superb opportunity. Then a Pépé free-kick from the left was headed home by Gabriel for his first Ligue 1 Conforama goal (71'), and another Pépé delivery, this time from a corner, was headed home by José Fonte to put the seal on an incredible performance (84').

Lille are now eight points clear of Olympique Lyonnais in second and closing in on securing second place, which would be a fantastic achievement for Christophe Galtier's team. It is Lille's biggest win against top-flight opposition since they beat Bordeaux 5-1 in the Coupe de la Ligue semi-finals in January 2016.

THE PLAYER: Nicolas Pépé

The Ivory Coast international showed that he is already the real deal with a goal and two assists. He now has 19 league goals this season - only Mbappé, with 27, has more. If he does leave in the summer, expect Lille to make a huge profit.

THE STAT: 19

PSG had not conceded five goals in a Ligue 1 game in 19 years, since December 2000 and a 5-1 defeat at Sedan. This is a sensational result, but PSG will still be confirmed champions for the sixth time in seven seasons with a win at FC Nantes on Wednesday.
