Julien Stéphan believes Rennes winning their first trophy for 48 years will change the course of the club's history; Thomas Tuchel found PSG's defeat hard to explain. Reactions too from Neymar and Ben Arfa…

Stade Rennais FC  2 - 2  Paris Saint-Germain

Rennes win 6-5 on penalties after extra time

Julien Stéphan (Rennes coach): "It's exceptional and the paradox of Rennes is that we win matches people don't expect us to. We were outsiders but the players played an exceptional game. They were courageous and worked so hard for each other. We're going to take the Cup back to Brittany and have a big party. It allows the club to grow. This is a collective success and it's going to make all the Rennes supporters proud. People are going to stop talking about Rennes being 'losers' and will talk about this trophy. In my opinion it will change the course of the club's history."

Hatem Ben Arfa (Rennes forward): "This is huge and I'm feeling exceptional because we worked very hard for this. We have had a few difficult moments but we have stayed together. We had a good Europa League run and we picked up a trophy that Rennes had been waiting for for nearly 50 years. We're really very happy and it's a source of pride to all the players, the coaching staff and the supporters."

Thomas Tuchel (Paris Saint-Germain coach): "It's difficult to explain. We started very well and with structure and lots of quality. We had a lot of chances throughout the match. It's too early to assess the season and I must take a few days to think. We lost our intensity after the winter break and had a lot of weeks without a full squad. We're not satisfied with the result and it's difficult to say we're not fragile mentally. We weren't clinical enough in the game and didn't pay enough attention to the details."

Neymar (Paris Saint-Germain forward): "I feel bad. You always feel bad when you lose, even more so when it's in a final. Everybody is sad but now there's nothing we can do about it. I think I played well. I scored and set a goal up. I was very pleased with that but of course the feelings are mixed because we lost. The youngsters are a bit lost and they don't listen. The experienced players give them advice but they reply… We have experience and they need to respect that.
