Vitorino Hilton will play an 18th season in Ligue 1 Conforama after extending his contract with Montpellier Hérault SC for another season.

Hilton won the double of Ligue 1 Conforama and Coupe de la Ligue with Olympique de Marseille in 2010 before helping guide his current employers to their shock top-flight triumph in 2012, but he shows little sign of slowing down, now seven years later.´

The Brazilian has started the second-most games among outfield players for Montpellier this season - behind Daniel Congré - helping La Paillade to sixth in the table with the fifth-best defence in the division.

'Same emotion as the first'

"There, I'm 41-years-old, nearly 42," smiled Hilton on signing on for ninth season at the Stade de la Mosson. "To extend my contract as I have is something I would never have imagined. But I've signed this extension with the same emotion I had when I signed my first one."

Hilton could make his 283rd appearance for Montpellier when they take on champions Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, knowing a win could lift them into the top five.
