LOSC's winning run ended at five Ligue 1 Conforama games as the division's second-placed club were held 0-0 at home by Europe-chasing Montpellier.

LOSC 0-0 Montpellier Hérault SC

THE MATCH

José Mourinho was among the spectators as LOSC came up against well-organised opposition. LOSC top scorer Nicolas Pépé looked the most likely man to make the breakthrough, missing the target (3') and then firing a free-kick just over the crossbar (36').

Benjamin Lecomte made a fine save (40') from Jose Fonte's powerful shot but on the whole LOSC were being frustrated, while Montpellier - missing injured forward Andy Delort - offered little in the way of attacking threat themselves.

Jonathan Ikoné (48') remains stuck on one league goal for the season after hitting the outside of the post with a left-footed shot. LOSC hit the woodwork again (65') as Pépé's curler beat Lecomte. The in-form Rafael Leao couldn't react quickly enough to convert the rebound.

Montpellier managed only one shot on target though Paul Lasne (74') as their primary aim was to close down LOSC's youthful and pacy attack. Michel Der Zakarian is likely to employ a similar gameplan when MHSC go to the Parc des Princes to take on Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday evening.

THE PLAYER: Vitorino Hilton

The 41-year-old Montpellier captain was giving away a lot of years and speed to Pépé, Ikoné, Leao and Jonathan Bamba. Hilton had a terrific match, reading play superbly and intervening judiciously. MHSC still required the aid of the woodwork to leave the north of France with a share of the spoils.

THE STAT: 6

Draw specialists Montpellier are unbeaten in six Ligue 1 Conforama matches (1W, 5D).
