Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar Jr. has travelled to Qatar in a bid to expedite his recovery from a broken metatarsal.

The Brazil captain, the world's most expensive player when he swapped Barcelona for PSG in August 2017, pulled up injured in the champions Coupe de France last 32 win over RC Strasbourg Alsace in January.

The club have confirmed that the Aspetar Clinic in Doha, where former Barca teammate Samuel Umtiti was treated for knee injuries, will be Neymar's next stop.

"Neymar has travelled to the Aspetar clinic in Qatar and will be there for the next three days," read an official statement on PSG's Twitter channel. "A full six-week evaluation of his injury will be done. He will be accompanied by a medical team from Paris Saint-Germain."

Neymar's eventual return to the squad will be a welcome one. The 27-year-old had scored 13 Ligue 1 Conforama goals and assisted six more before his injury.
