Striker Jimmy Briand has left EA Guingamp and Ligue 1 Conforama to join Montreal Impact.

In July 2009, EA Guingamp played their first-ever Trophée des Champions in the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, Canada. Nine years later, the two cities once again see their paths cross thanks to Jimmy Briand's transfer. At 32 years of age, the France forward has left Ligue 1 Conforama for the MLS, the Brittany club have announced.

85 Ligue 1 Conforama goals

Looking for a new challenge, Jimmy Briand has embarked on his second stint overseas, having already spent the 2014-15 season with Hannover in the German Bundesliga. After three seasons with EA Guingamp in Ligue 1 Conforama, where he top-scored for the club in the last two seasons (12 and 11 goals respectively), the France international has opted to pause his run - at least for now - of 385 Ligue 1 Conforama appearances and the 85 goals that came with them. A brilliant total that made him the second-top active Ligue 1 Conforama goal scorer behind El MatadorEdinson Cavani (116 Ligue 1 Conforama goal with Paris Saint-Germain).
