Alexandru Spiridon (Moldova coach): "It's very tough to overtake a Ferrari.I was really impressed; I've never seen such a gulf in class. The biggest problem for our team is the low level of our national league. It was very difficult to take on the World Champions. To be honest, I wasn't too impressed by the level of play we showed tonight. It's not what our fans were expecting. I hope we show a different side in the matches to come. We started off with the toughest side the group, and I hope things improve from here."

Didier Deschamps (France coach): "We had an excellent first half in terms of control and attacking play; we scored three goals against an opponent whom we obliged to defend. Moldova showed a lot of courage and drive and they were rewarded with a late goal, which I would have preferred to avoid. It was tough for Moldova because tonight France were playing at a very high level. In the second half, they switched to a five-man defence and our performance was less accomplished. The only black spot for us was conceding the late goal, but that doesn't diminish our excellent performance. Our three attacking player scored, and that's a very good thing."
