AS Monaco vice president Vadim Vasilyev has dismissed speculation linking captain Radamel Falcao with a move away from the club, describing the Colombia striker as 'a pillar of our project.'

Falcao has enjoyed a prolific two years at Monaco since returning to the principality from Chelsea in the summer of 2016, plundering 41 goals in 50 Ligue 1 Conforama games since.

With Thomas Lemar and Fabinho among those sold in the summer - to Atletico Madrid and Liverpool respectively - fans have become accustomed to Monaco buying low and selling high in recent season.  Vasilyev insists Falcao remains central to Monaco's plans, though.

"We want to keep him, he's the pillar of our project," the Russian told L'Equipe. "I want him to stay until the end of his contract. In the future we'd like to bring more stability and make less changes from one season to the next."

Falcao is next in action for Monaco on Saturday night, with the 32-year-old expected to lead the 2017 Ligue 1 Conforama champions out against Toulouse FC at the Stadium Municipal.
