Ligue 1 Conforama is looking extremely good among Europe's Big 5 leagues, with statistics making consistent progress over the last five years.
According to key metrics, Ligue 1 Conforama is enjoying an extremely accomplished season and proving very strong in relation to Europe's top leagues. Even better, in some areas Ligue 1 Conforama is even the best-poerforming of Europe's Big 5.
Goal average is the traditional marker for the quality and entertainment value of a league, and it is on the rise in France's top flight. With an average of 2.64 goals per match, the French league is on near-level terms with Italy's Serie A and Spain's La Liga, which are averaging 2.68 goals per match.
However, the most interesting development has been how this figure has increased over recent seasons: Ligue 1 Conforama is the only league that has shown consistent growth each season. From 2.45 goals per match five seasons ago, Ligue 1 Conforama has improved while the English Premier League has dipped slightly (from 2.77 to 2.72) despite continuing to be the Big 5's highest-performing league. So too the Serie A was a more prolific league in 2013-14, and Germany's Bundesliga has seen its average dwindle by 0.45 goals per match over the same period (3.16 compared to 2.71 this season).
Ligue 1 Conforama: Goal tallies rising
As a consequence, the number of matches with big scorelines has been on the rise in Ligue 1 Conforama since the beginning of season 2017-18. Quite a way behind the other leagues four years ago, Ligue 1 Conforama has bridged the gap in terms of the number of matches with more than three goals and is now on level terms with the Serie A and La Liga. So far this season, Ligue 1 Conforama's most prolific match has been OM-FC Metz (6-3 in Week 24). Only the Premier League remains clearly in front of Ligue 1 Conforama (30 per cent of matches), but Ligue 1 Conforama is also the only league to have a higher percentage than in season 2013-14 (26 per cent compared to 23 per cent).
The Big 5's lowest 0-0 draw incidence
The area in which Ligue 1 Conforama has shown the most progress after 32 rounds is in terms of 0-0 draws. Our league was in last position in 2013-14 with a total that was triple that of the Bundesliga. Since then, Ligue 1 Conforama has drastically reduced the number of goalless draws, shedding a jaw-dropping 44 per cent over five seasons! France's top flight now boasts the lowest number of goalless matches in the Big 5 (5.6 per cent), while the Premier League is clocking 8 per cent and La Liga 7.7 per cent).
There are also other elements that demonstrate Ligue 1 Conforama's competitive trends this season. For example, the average number of balls played per match is topped only by the Serie A. In terms of precision, the French league is also doing well, with the second-best record for completed passes among the Big 5 (80.3 per cent), behind Italy, while the percentage of shots on target (34.6 per cent) comes in third, just behind La Liga and in front of the Premier League.
