Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed that Gianluigi Buffon will return to the champions' starting line-up for Sunday's Ligue 1 Conforama trip to Stade Rennais FC.
When asked at Saturday's eve-of-game press conference if the veteran Italian would be recalled at Roazhon Park, Tuchel said: "Yes, and he will play against Reims on Wednesday as well."
Tuchel said that France international Alphonse Aréola, who has played in PSG's last four games in all competitions, had missed training on Saturday to be with his family. And while Buffon returns, his fellow Italian Marco Verratti can also come back into the team having sat out the UEFA Champions League loss to Liverpool due to suspension.
"We lost in the final minutes. It is hard to take, but that is life. We need to be able to get over it," said Tuchel of the 3-2 defeat at Anfield, decided by Roberto Firmino's stoppage-time goal for the English side.
"It was our first defeat. There were good things and not so good things at Anfield. For example. I thought we did well preventing Liverpool from using transitions by closing up the midfield zones. We also utilised Thomas (Meunier) and Juan (Bernat) to attack down the flanks," added Tuchel.
'Set our own limits'
"We showed a top mentality to come back from 2-0 down to 2-2. But it is true that we need to improve and play with more intensity, with more fire in our game. It is important that we progress and that we set our own limits."
"I don't care if we win or lose, I want us to give our best. If we are crap, but we win, I can understand that we might get criticised," added the German, whose team are looking to extend their perfect start to the domestic season in Brittany.
