Olympique de Marseille's big victory against LOSC on Saturday came at a potential cost, with full-back Hiroki Sakai coming off injured.
The Japanese international had to be replaced by Jordan Amavi after just 22 minutes of a game OM went on to win 5-1 at the Orange Vélodrome after suffering a knee injury.
"We got the three points, boosted our goal difference and produced an attacking spectacle. But the black mark on the evening is the injury to Hiroki," admitted coach Rudi Garcia.
"He has not done his cruciate, but I have watched the images and, without being a doctor, I don't think the lateral internal ligament of his left knee can have liked that. We will see tomorrow (Sunday)."
Sakai could now be in a race against time to be fit for OM's Europa League semi-final, first leg at home to FC Red Bull Salzburg on Thursday.
"If we don't have Hiroki, who is the most defensive of our full-backs, we will need to find other solutions," Garcia added.
