Toulouse FC coach Michaël Debève was a relieved man after his side finally put their relegation fears to be by beating AC Ajaccio 1-0 - and 4-0 on aggregate - in the return leg of their play-off on Sunday night.

Michaël Debève (Toulouse FC coach): "The season has turned out have a happy ending. We had hoped to do well and be much higher up the table, but we really struggled since the end of January. We had to fight. Five rounds from the end of the season, we thought we had it in the bag but then we lost three matches and had to go through the play-offs. I'd like to thank the players, the staff, the club and the fans as it wasn't an easy situation to deal with. But we faced up to it and gave our all. The most important thing is that we are still in Ligue 1."

Jean-Luc Moudenc (Mayor of Toulouse): "We weren't too worried, but we were still under pressure throughout the season. In the end, there was last-gasp survival and a last-gasp goal. It would be a kindness to say that Toulouse had an average season in 2017-18."

Olivier Pantaloni (AC Ajaccio coach): "We had more energy than we did on Wednesday [in the first leg]. Unfortunately though, we had already pretty much blown our chances. Our objective was to be in front at half-time and make them doubt themselves, but in the end I don't think we worried them all that much. We have a fair few regrets over not having been able to play the first leg in Ajaccio and to have had to prepare for the match in pretty awful conditions that everyone is pretty well aware of."
