Moussa Konaté scored late on for Amiens SC (72') cancelling out Ellyes Skhiri's first-half opener for Montpellier Hérault SC (33') as it ended 1-1 at the Stade de la Licorne.

THE MATCH
Michel Der Zakarian's men bossed first-half possession at the Stade de la Licorne, with Jérôme Roussillon's raids down the left flank keeping the hosts on the back foot, and their Belgian striker Isaac Mbenza threatened first, fizzing a shot past Régis Gurtner's post (10'). Left-back Roussillon's positivity left Amiens right-winger Serge Gakpé with space, though, and the Togo forward thought he should have had a penalty midway through the half, but referee Karim Abed waved away his claim after a collision with MHSC captain Hilton (27'). The visitors took the lead soon after, though, with Skhiri latching onto Keagan Dolly's through-ball before lashing home his first goal since December 2016 (33'). Gakpé tested Gurtner's opposite number Benjamin Lecomte with the half drawing to a close, but his shot was turned around the post (43') and La Paillade carried a 1-0 lead into the interval.
Late flurry
Konaté came close to a leveller ten minutes into the second half but Lecomte got a foot to the Senegalese attacker's attempt (55'). Skhiri, making a mockery of his recent goal drought, looked like a perpetual threat at the other end, and after another late break into the Amiens box he was unlucky to see his pile-driver pushed out for a corner by Gurtner (66'). It was Amiens who were next to find the target, though, when Konaté headed home an Oualid El Hajjam cross (72'). Giovanni Sio replaced a tiring Souleymane Camara late on and could have snatched a winner for Montpellier, but he failed to find the requisite power to test Gurtner when one-on-one (87') and it ended 1-1.
THE PLAYER: Ellyes Skhiri
This was one of Skhiri's best performances in a Montpellier shirt, and he was unlucky to see his side draw. The Tunisian midfielder won 16 challenges in the centre of the park, completed 78 percent of his passes in a packed midfielder, and would with a dash more luck, would have had a brace here.
THE STAT: 14
Montpellier still boast Ligue 1 Conforama's best defence, with only 14 goals going against them - one fewer than runaway league leaders Paris Saint-Germain. However, it's at the other end where Der Zakarian's men need to tighten things up: two consecutive draws mean they are now 15 points off the European places.
