A realistic Christophe Galtier admitted he's got plenty of work to do at LOSC after seeing his side labour to a 4-2 victory at fourth-tier Le Mans in his first game on the northern club's bench.

After going 2-0 up inside 12 minutes, LOSC allowed Le Mans to level. Ezequiel Ponce's second goal of the game restored LOSC's lead and then Thiago Mendes put the seal on it in the 95th minute.

Former Saint-Etienne coach Galtier commented: "We played well for 20 minutes but then started looking for the easy options when we were leading 2-0. Our opponents ran all over us for a spell and we have to praise their quality. We didn't play a real Cup match. We can't afford to make as many mistakes in Ligue 1 otherwise we'll be punished.

"These young players have already played six months of Ligue 1 football and they'll need to be much more intelligent in their play in the coming games. We need to learn quickly the simple things about playing. There's not just work to be done on the mental side of things, there's also technical and physical work to be done. Qualifying for the next round is very positive."
