Brittany club EA Guingamp have clinched the signature of DR Congo international midfielder Yeni Ngbakoto from Queens Park Rangers.

EA Guingamp have announced the signing of midfielder Yeni Ngbakoto on a three-and-a-half-year deal, the DR Congo international midfielder making his return to France after two seasons with Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

A product of the FC Metz youth system and a former France youth international, Ngbakoto made 185 appearances (44 goals) between 2009 and 2016 before crossing the Channel to London. However, after making just five appearances for QPR in the first half of the season, the 25-year-old opted for a return to Ligue 1 Conforama, where he plied his trade with Metz in season 2014-15.

Ngbakoto: 'Years in the making'

"I just want to wish everyone a Happy New year and say that I'm very happy to come here and become a part of the Guingamp family," said the midfielder after making the move for an undisclosed fee. "It means a lot to me to make this move as I spoke to the president on the phone a lot. It has been years in the making, you could say. I have wanted to sign for this club for a long time and today we did the deal, so I'm very happy."

Ngbakoto is Guingamp's first signing of the winter transfer window will be looking to help Antoine Kombouaré's side build on a promising first half of the season that took them to eighth place at the winter break.
