SM Caen turned up the heat on Girondins de Bordeaux coach Jocelyn Gourvennec after late goals - including a Ronny Rodelin stunner - gave them a 2-0 win at the Matmut Atlantique on Tuesday.

THE MATCH

Bordeaux had eased the pressure on their under-fire coach with a 1-0 weekend win at ESTAC Troyes and they were hoping to build on that as Malcom - heavily linked with a move to Arsenal - started and new signings Paul Baysse and Soualiho Meité made their home debuts for the club against a Caen side without a win since November.

That last win came against Bordeaux, though, and the Normandy side repeated the feat here. They had to wait until late to get their goals, surviving as Meité missed the best chance for the hosts in the first period and taking their chance after Baysse was sent off late on following an off-the-ball incident in his own box with Ivan Santini.

Rodelin from halfway

Caen were awarded a penalty for that, and Santini stepped up to score from 12 yards for his seventh goal of the season. Benoît Costil, the Bordeaux goalkeeper, had saved a penalty against Troyes on Saturday but could not repeat those heroics here.

The visitors then rubbed salt into the Bordeaux wounds as they made sure of the points in stoppage time. Costil came forward to join the attack when the hosts won a free-kick, but Caen cleared their lines and the ball fell to Rodelin, who scored with his left foot from almost on the halfway line with Costil unable to get back (90+4').

It is just two wins in 14 league games now for Bordeaux, who are already out of all the cup competitions and are facing up to the prospect of a relegation battle on current form.

THE PLAYER: Paul Baysse

A disastrous home debut for Baysse, who was signed from Málaga to add some steel to what had become a porous Bordeaux defence. It looked set to be a second straight clean sheet for him and his new side until he was sent off for conceding the late penalty that handed the game to Caen. Baysse will now miss Saturday's game at FC Nantes due to suspension.

THE STAT: 6

Caen have picked up just nine points in their last 10 Ligue 1 Conforama games going back to the start of November. Six of those have come against Bordeaux.
