Kenny Lala scored two penalties as RC Strasbourg Alsace beat Dijon FCO 3-2 in a thrilling encounter at a sodden Stade de la Meinau on Saturday.

RC Strasbourg Alsace  3 - 2  Dijon FCO

THE MATCH

Strasbourg beat Dijon 3-2 after extra time here in the Coupe de France just two weeks ago and this was another action-packed clash between the sides played out on a drenched and muddy pitch on a rainy night in Alsace.

Lala was the matchwinner, thanks to his late penalty which found the net despite goalkeeper Baptiste Reynet diving the right way after Nuno Da Costa had been fouled inside the area by Oussama Haddadi (79').

Strasbourg had earlier squandered a two-goal lead, showing nerves after a run of three straight defeats. But their evening had started superbly as they found themselves two goals up before 20 minutes had been played.

Martin Terrier hit the bar for the hosts before they took a fifth-minute lead with Jean-Eudes Aholou driving a low shot into the net from 22 yards. The talented Terrier - who is on loan from LOSC and is set to join Olympique Lyonnais for next season - was involved again as Strasbourg doubled their lead soon after. He was brought down in the area by Haddadi and Lala converted his first spot-kick of the night (19').

However, Dijon pulled a goal back as Xeka left Fouad Chafik's ball into the box and Julio Tavares swept it home (34'). The visitors then drew level on the stroke of half-time, Cédric Yambéré nodding down a high free-kick into the box for Haddadi to tuck it home (45+1').

It looked as if there would be no further scoring after the break until Lala appeared to net another penalty as he trebled his goals tally for the season on one night. And the win allowed Strasbourg to climb above their opponents into mid-table.

THE PLAYER: Oussama Haddadi

It has been a wretched week for Dijon defenders, and it was an eventful night in particular for Haddadi. The 25-year-old Tunisian scored his first Ligue 1 Conforama goal but also crucially was responsible for conceding both penalties that cost his side dear.

THE STAT: 11

Dijon's beleaguered defence has let in 11 goals in two games in four days, with this defeat following their 8-0 mauling away to Paris Saint-Germain.
