The LFP's Administrative Council met on Tuesday 17 March following UEFA's decisions on the consequences of the Covid-19 epidemic on the organisation of football competitions at European level.

The LFP Board thanks UEFA for postponing Euro 2020 from 11 June to 11 July 2021. This decision will allow European football to give itself every chance to finalise the domestic and European competitions of the 2019-20 season.

The LFP's Administrative Council underlines that the priority of priorities is to finish the Ligue 1 Conforama and Domino's Ligue 2 seasons. Given the sporting and economic stakes involved, this priority is vital for the future of the clubs and French football.

Following UEFA's decision, the Council would like the UEFA / European Leagues / ECA working group to quickly find a consensual solution to establish a draft end-of-season calendar, the priority being to complete domestic competitions while maintaining the right balance with the European cups and national team matches. As UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin stressed, the current crisis must be overcome collectively through decisions based on solidarity. All European football must show its sense of responsibility, unity, solidarity and altruism.

As soon as the conclusions of the working group are known, several options will be defined to design an end-of-season calendar of domestic competitions. This calendar established by the LFP / FFF Calendar Committee will then have to be validated by the LFP Board and the FFF Executive Committee.

UEFA's structuring decisions taken today therefore allow work to be carried out on recovery scenarios, which are, however, all dependent on the date on which the health crisis ends. For this reason, the Council reiterates that it will scrupulously follow the government's instructions in this matter and invites all French citizens to follow all health recommendations to curb the spread of Covid-19. The priority for the next two weeks is therefore for all of us to respect the containment measures and to limit travel to the strict minimum. Stay home and take care of yourself.
