Carlo Ancelotti has paid tribute to AS Saint-Etienne boss Christophe Galtier with the former Paris Saint-Germain and current Bayern Munich coach praising his counterpart's work.

Galtier will take charge of his final home game with Saint-Etienne on Sunday when — coincidentally — PSG are the visitors to the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard having announced he will leave the club at the end of the current season after a seven-and-a-half year tenure.

Ancelotti shared the Ligue 1 Coach of the Year award with Galtier at the end of the 2012/13 campaign when the Italian won the Ligue 1 title and Les Verts ended the season fifth, qualifying for European competition also thanks to their Coupe de la Ligue final victory, the club's first major trophy since 1981.

"I think with happiness about the Ligue 1 Coach of the Year award we shared in 2013," said Ancelotti, who has just wrapped up the Bundesliga title with Bayern in his first season in Germany.

"Today, a fantastic period at Saint-Etienne comes to an end. His team has always distinguished itself by the quality of its play and by its organisation. I wish my friend Christophe the greatest success for the future."
