In honour of OM superstar and France international playmaker Dimitri Payet's 33rd birthday, Ligue1.com takes a look back at one of Ligue 1 Conforama's brightest stars from the last decade…
Silky-skilled winger-turned-playmaker Dimitri Payet first hit the Ligue 1 Conforama scene with Nantes back in 2005, cutting his teeth at La Beaujoire before moving to Saint-Etienne, Lille and Marseille, where he is now in his second spell after a two-year stint in England with West Ham.
Payet's dazzling on-ball skills, flare from set pieces, slide-rule passing and deadly finishing have made him a hero at the Vélodrome and notably helped OM to the final of the UEFA Europa League in 2018.
Sadly for Payet, he was injured in that match - which OM lost 3-0 to Atlético Madrid at Lyon's Groupama Stadium - and subsequently missed out on France's stunning World Cup win in Russia a month later. The now-33-year-old bounced back in impressive fashion, however, and is now an integral part of André Villas-Boas' side - who look a very strong chance of clinching second place and UEFA Champions League qualification - with nine goals and four assists in Ligue 1 Conforama.
