Former PSG whizz Nenê believes compatriot Neymar has been the world's most successful player this season, eclipsing the performances of GOAT contenders Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo
Is Neymar currently the best player in the world? Nenê, a former Paris Saint-Germain player now turning out for Brazilian side Fluminense, thinks so. Speaking to L'Equipe, the former Monaco winger explained why Neymar is, in his opinion, the most successful player in the world this season.
'Better than Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo'
"It's a shame the season has been interrupted. For me, Neymar's the best player in the world this season. Objectively, he's been better than Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo," said the 38-year-old. "I hope he comes back at the same level."
Although Neymar's time with the capital club has been peppered with injuries and unsettled by a long-running saga concerning his possible return to former employers FC Barcelona, Nenê feels that the man in question now has his ducks in a row.
"He seems more focused, and he's got one thing in mind: winning the Champions League," observed Nenê of the Parisian superstar, who scored in both legs of PSG's 3-2 aggregate last-16 win over Dortmund. "He's fully focused on that goal. You can see that on the pitch, he wants to help the team, take them to the final. That's his dream, but it's also the dream of the Qataris. I hope it comes true."
