Christophe Pelissier admitted to "mixed feelings" after securing another promotion to Ligue 1, this time with FC Lorient.
Pelissier left Amiens last summer having led the Picard club into the top flight for the very first time.
He then steered Lorient back into the big time for the first time since 2017 by topping the Ligue 2 table, a point clear of RC Lens, after 28 matches when play was halted.
"There's mixed feelings. Of course there's happiness, but it's measured," admitted Pelissier, who acknowledged he had gambled on success when he took the job in Brittany last summer.
"The decision, even if I didn't take it all by myself, surprised people around me. But I had met the Lorient president, and saw the project could be interesting.
"I also put myself in danger, because each time I had got teams promoted before, it was unexpected. This time, it was one of the favourites.
"It was a challenge for me to have a team like that. The president showed a lot of faith in me, because he gave me a three-year contract."
