In The League of Talents, players under the age of 21 are far more likely to get their chance to shine than in the other major European leagues.
A new study by CIES looked at the minutes played by Under-21s and found that Ligue 1 Conforama gives a huge amount of game time to promising youngsters. 15% of the Ligue 1 Conforama minutes played this season have been by players under the age of 21 as youthful talent comes to the fore. Straggling behind France are the Bundesliga (9.8%), the Premier League (8.5%), Serie A (7.7%), and La Liga (7%).
In terms of clubs giving the highest percentage of match time to Under-21s, Ligue 1 Conforama clubs fill the top four places in a list of clubs from the five top European leagues. Lille (32.1%), Nice (30.8%), Saint-Etienne (24.6%) and Toulouse (24.3%) are the clubs to have given the biggest opportunities to young players.
