Olympique Lyonnais coach Rudi Garcia has given an update on the club's transfer pans, including the situation of successful on-loan forward Karl Toko Ekambi.

After finishing seventh in Ligue 1 Conforama in the 2019-20 season, Olympique Lyonnais will not play in Europe next season - the first time since 1996-97 that the club run by Jean-Michel Aulas have missed the cut.

The club clearly does not wish to repeat this disappointment and so coach Rudi Garcia is already planning for next season. And, like any coach, he is looking to strengthen his team.

'We want to keep Karl'

A guest on the OL Night System programme on the club's private channel OLTV, the Les Gones coach gave an update on the upcoming transfer window, taking the opportunity to mention the case of Karl Toko Ekambi, who arrived on loan from Villarreal in January.

"We still have to build the team. We corrected the situation during the winter window, bringing in Bruno Guimaraes and Toko Ekambi. Here at the club, we're all in agreement that we want to keep Karl," he said, before expressing confidence in OL's ability to hang onto their key players.

"I don't know how the summer will go. It will be an unusual transfer window. We've got a good squad, so we'll be able to respond well next season. We'll have a great season. I'm very ambitious for OL and we're going to work to achieve our goals. The players have contracts and they feel good here at OL. I'm not worried that there will be an exodus of players."
