Dijon have named former OL, OM, PSG and France striker Peguy Luyindula as sporting director following a year-long stint as president Olivier Delcourt's strategic advisor.

After the departure of chief scout Sébastien Larcier, who made the move to Angers SCO, Dijon FCO have decided to appoint Peguy Luyindula as sporting director.

At the club as strategic adviser to president Olivier Delcourt since July 2019, the former French international, has been promoted and will enjoy an over-arching role at the club.

"Peguy Luyindula will be in charge of defining and implementing the sports policy of all the DFCO entities: the professional group, training and the women's section," read a statement on the club's official website. "He will define the season's objectives and ensure follow-up with the various managers of these entities."

'Expertise and network'

One of the former attacker's first tasks will be to set up a recruitment unit with a view to making a successful foray into this summer's transfer window.

"Our first year of collaboration with Peguy has reinforced my belief that he has all the skills required for the position of sporting director," explained Olivier Delcourt, also on the club's website. "His experience, his expertise and his network will help us take a step forward and perpetuate the club at the highest level."

Meanwhile Luyindula, who played in Spain and the USA on top of his lengthy career with some of Ligue 1 Conforama's top clubs, said he is ready to "face without fear" the challenges that lie ahead.
