Paris Saint-Germain's Belgium right-back Thomas Meunier has waxed lyrical about his good fortune in playing alongside some of the world's best players - most notably Kylian Mbappé, whom he says is a cut above…
In an interview with radio station France 5 programme La maison Lumni, Meunier was more than complimentary about his squad-mates at the capital club.
"We've got a fairly young team, apart from a couple of old ones, it's fairly homogenous. If I'd been told I was going to play one day with players who could be Ballon d'Or, who are world-renowned and who are superstars, I would never have believed it. Even playing in the Champions League is a dream come true," confessed the Belgian, who joined Paris Saint-Germain from Club Brugge in 2016. "At PSG, I rub shoulders with players like [Edinson] Cavani, [Julian] Draxler, Thiago Silva and others. It's just exceptional and a huge opportunity."
'A cut above'
Asked about Kylian Mbappé, Thomas Meunier was then ecstatic, explaining that the prodigy from Bondy has left him gobsmacked in training on more than one occasion.
"Kylian blows me away on a regular basis in training," explained Meunier. "He's really a cut above, more gifted than any footballer I've come across in my career. And I honestly hope he'll be able to keep going all the way because he's got a future ahead of him that will just be sensational."
