Olympique Lyonnais have clinched the services of livewire forward Karl Toko-Ekambi, on loan from Villarreal in the second half of season 2019-20, on a four-year contract.
Olympique Lyonnais announced on Tuesday that they have exercised the option to buy 27-year-old striker Karl Toko Ekambi from Villarreal on a four-year deal worth €11.5m.
The deal includes the cost of the purchase option plus a maximum of €4 million in bonuses - as well as a 15% profit-sharing on the capital gains of any eventual transfer (50% if the transfer takes place before 15 September 2020).
Toko Ekambi, who has 22 caps for Cameroon, scored two goals and provided one assist in eight Ligue 1 Conforama matches after arriving from Spain in this year's January transfer window. He provided some much-needed spark and quality in an attacking sector that had been shorn of the talents of Memphis Depay and Jeff Reine-Adélaïde (both with ACL injuries) and has the faith of OL boss Rudi Garcia.
Prior to playing for Villarreal and OL, Paris-born striker Toko Ekambi played for FC Sochaux-Montbéliard (2014-16) and Angers SCO (2016-18) after coming up through the youth academy at Paris FC (2008-14).
