Gaël Kakuta is back at Lens, his first club, after joining on loan from relegated Amiens with an option to buy.
The 29-year-old playmaker left Lens at the age of 16 to join Chelsea. Promoted Lens have moved to bring Kakuta back to northern France and the delighted left-footer told the club's website: "It's here that everything started for me. I've always wanted to play for the first team at Lens. That was my childhood dream. I've never been on the Bollaert-Delelis pitch apart from as a ball boy! I can't yet imagine what it will be like but I cannot wait to get out there."
Lens' first home game is a prestigious one as in Round 2 of the 2020-2021 Ligue 1 Uber Eats season they will host champions Paris Saint-Germain. Last campaign Kakuta scored one of the goals of the season against PSG as Amiens drew 4-4 in a thriller with the capital club.
