Stade de Reims have pulled off a transfer coup, the club from the Champagne region announcing that they have recruited Kosovar international Valon Berisha from Lazio on a four-year deal.

Stade de Reims continue to create surprises, this time in the transfer market: after finishing sixth in Ligue 1 Uber Eats last season, Reims have swooped for the signature of Valon Berisha.

After six successful years with Red Bull Salzburg, the Kosovar international (18 caps) joined Lazio in 2018. It was a disappointing experience to say the least and the attacking midfielder has been on loan at Fortuna Dusseldorf in the Bundesliga over the past six months, making 13 appearances. His arrival at Stade de Reims brings him to Ligue 1 Uber Eats with a view to making a comeback - aged just 27.

Stade de Reims's growing ambition

"The recruitment of Valon Berisha shows the ambition and the growing influence of Stade de Reims," enthused Mathieu Lacour, Stade de Reims' general manager before continuing, "It was him and nobody else. While in France, his performances during the Red Bull Salzburg epic in the Europa League have left their mark on people's minds, the level and the statistical performance he has posted since he started out as a pro make him a first-rate prospect in Europe.

"We are particularly pleased to welcome this experienced player, who has shown a constant interest in our project. The fact that he will be able to join his team-mates very quickly after a few days off is very positive for his future integration."

Berisha, who will wear the number 14, has signed a four-year contract.
