Bordeaux have announced the return to the club of Jean-Louis Gasset, who arrives to replace the outgoing Paulo Sousa, as well as former Girondin defender Alain Roche in the capacity of sporting director.
Jean-Louis Gasset, who was assistant coach of Les Girondins de Bordeaux with Laurent Blanc for three years, has signed a two-year contract with the Bordeaux club as officially announced by the club on Monday.
Bordeaux also announced the appointment of former Bordeaux, PSG and France defender Alain Roche as sporting director, with the brief of "responsibility for the various Girondins teams and the youth academy".
"Frédéric Longuépée, president of FC Girondins de Bordeaux, is very pleased to announce the arrival of Jean-Louis Gasset as coach of the professional team and Alain Roche as sports director," read official press release.
"The prospect of returning to a club where I've lived through so many good and great moments gives me great pleasure," said Gasset, who mot recently held the reins at AS Saint-Etienne. "Only the Girondins and this ambitious challenge proposed by Frédéric could convince me to take over the helm of such a prestigious club so quickly."
