Eduardo Camavinga has dismissed speculation linking him with a move away from Stade Rennais FC, telling French television "I will be a Rennes player this season'.

Camavinga caught the eye with some spectacular performances last year as Rennes secured third place in Ligue 1 Uber Eats and, with it, a first-ever qualification for the UEFA Champions League group stage next season.

Perhaps the most impressive thing the 17-year-old's game is the fact that he is a defensive midfielder, holding his side together with reading of the game that belies his tender years. There has been purported interest from Real Madrid and others in the press, but Camavinga is happy where he is.

"I've got two years left on my contract," he explained to Téléfoot. "I'll be a Rennes player this season. I don't pay any attention to transfer rumours. They don't concern me. It doesn't bother me at all. It's football. Some things are true and others are false."

The above will be music to Rennes coach Julien Stéphan's ears. Les Rouge et Noir get their Ligue 1 Uber Eats campaign underway on Saturday evening away to LOSC.
