Olympique Lyonnais have announced the arrival of 23-year-old Brazilian forward Lucas Paqueta from AC Milan on a five-year deal.
After Thiago Mendes and Jean Lucas last summer, and then Bruno Guimarães and Camilo in January, Olympique Lyonnais have landed yet another Brazilian player in the form of Lucas Paqueta. The Rhône-valley club reached an agreement with AC Milan for the transfer of the attacking midfielder, born in Rio de Janeiro 23 years ago, for the next five seasons.
In Italy, Lucas Paqueta made 37 appearances in Serie A (one goal) after making the move to Europe from Flamengo, the club whose youth academy he came up through, in January 2019.
After a promising start with the Rossoneri, Paqueta - full name Lucas Tolentino Coelho de Lima - gradually saw his playing time decrease before opting for a move away in a bid to buck the trend and launch his European career in earnest.
Versatile
The Brazil international (11 caps, two goals) is capable of playing as a midfielder in a 4-3-3 or as a playmaker in a 4-2-3-1, and can also deputise as a winger. A godsend for a coach, but it remains to be seen in which position will he play in Rudi Garcia's system, which is already packed with attacking midfield talent the likes of Memphis Depay, Houssem Aouar and Jeff Reine-Adélaïde, to name a few...
