Monaco coach Niko Kovac is confident German international forward Kevin Volland will adapt to the French game and prove the perfect foil for Wissam Ben Yedder.

Having suffered a nasty ankle injury in February, the summer signing from Bayer Leverkusen is striving to rediscover his best form, playing on the right side of Kovac's preferred 4-3-3.

The Croatian coach commented: "He has changed his environment and culture. He needs one or two months to adapt. I know his qualities and we'll give him the time he needs. We know that expectations are very high around him; that's normal for a player of his quality. He needs to get used to a new way of working and I assure you that he will show his best side."

Volland has played five Ligue 1 Uber Eats matches without scoring, though he did set up two goals in the 3-2 home win over Strasbourg at the end of September. Monaco are in action at Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday evening.
