Olympique de Marseille coach André Villas-Boas was a happy man following his club's 3-1 win over Nantes on Saturday.

The Portuguese coach enjoyed seeing goals from Florian Thuavin, Dimitri Payet and Dario Benedetto as OM moved into the top three. Out of the Champions League following a midweek loss to Porto, the 1993 European champions have a massive home game against Olympiacos on Tuesday as they attempt to finish third in their group to play Europa League football in 2021.

Villas-Boas said: "It was a very good team performance, an individual victory by each player. They had the right spirit and the right desire. We combined well and got into their box. I hope the match can act as a reference point for what's to come. We needed a victory like that and now we need to see if we can do the same thing against Olympiacos.

"is it a turning point? I hope so, I hope so. We also played well against Bordeaux and in the match after that in Greece, things were hard for us. I can't promise anything, but I'm hopeful. The 4-2-3-1 with wingers and Cuisance between the lines worked well for us."
