Julian Draxler could be set to for his first Paris Saint-Germain outing since October when the champions travel to Stade de la Mosson to take on high-flying Montpellier Hérault SC on Saturday evening.

Montpellier Hérault SC - Paris Saint-Germain

- Kick-off: Saturday at 8pm GMT

Draxler has not played for PSG since pulling his hamstring in their Round 8 4-0 victory over Dijon FCO. The champions have rather spluttered since then, winning five, drawing one and losing two games in all competitions thereafter, but they remain two points clear at the top of Ligue 1 Uber Eats following last Saturday's 2-2 draw with Girondins de Bordeaux.

'Nearly pregnant isn't pregnant'

If that result was tinged with disappointment, there was nothing downbeat about Paris's subsequent 3-1 dismantling of Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday - a result which means Thomas Tuchel's side will progress to the last 16 if they avoid defeat to Istanbul Basaksehir next Tuesday.

The German tactician is taking nothing for granted, though.

"Nearly qualified isn't qualified," he told reporters at Old Trafford. "Nearly pregnant isn't pregnant. That doesn't exist and I'm not going to let a single guy think everything's been done. We need to make the last step and for that, we'll need to play with the same mentality, the same fire and the same spirit."

Accordingly, Tuchel is expected to rotate against Montpellier, with Draxler one of a number of players who didn't feature in midweek set to get a run out in the south of France. Abdou Diallo could also return to central defence having been suspended for the Bordeaux game.

Apart from the glut of fixtures, PSG have no fresh rotation concerns, with full-backs Thilo Kehrer and Juan Bernat longer-term injury absentees.

Montpellier marching up the table

Tuchel will also be wary of taking Montpellier lightly. They may have beaten La Paillade 5-0 when they last met in February, but Michel Der Zakarian's side have been on a tear recently, with Sunday's 1-0 victory at FC Lorient - sealed thanks to second-half substitute Petar Skuletic - their fourth win on the bounce.

The surprise 2012 French champions have turned a corner since Der Zakarian started lining his charges up in an attacking 4-3-3 formation, and with 12 points from their last four games, have closed the gap to the league leaders to two points. They could even end the weekend top if they win and other results go their way.

Like for like?

"I'm very happy with how we played," Tuchel's opposite number Der Zakarian said of the Lorient match. "Even if we were wasteful, the rest was good. I'm happy for Petar, who's doing really well in training. We have a good average of two points per game, but we have to keep working hard. We'll have a difficult game against Paris next Saturday."

Montpellier have a clean bill of health and Der Zakarian is unlikely to change much against PSG, even if his recently preferred formation leaves his side man for man against the champions. Skuletic could be used as an impact sub, although the Serbian could also get the nod ahead of Stephy Mavididi in attack.
