Racism must be banned from society and from football pitches. All racist acts must be condemned and punished. This fight needs the involvement of all parties (authorities, clubs, players, coaches, referees) to banish racism, which has no place on football pitches. As such, the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) welcomes the exemplary behaviour of the players of both clubs during the Paris Saint-Germain - Istanbul Basaksehir match and hopes that the investigation carried out by UEFA will allow the sanctions to be taken if necessary.

The fight against discrimination is one of the priorities of the LFP, which works throughout the season with numerous associations to combat racism, homophobia and sexism. In collaboration with the clubs, the LFP organises dedicated events and awareness-raising workshops conducted in youth academies. However, this preventive work must be accompanied by sanctions when instances of racism occur. This is why the day-to-day work is also accompanied by investigations and disciplinary measures when incidents occur in our stadiums.

In this fight, which combines education and sanctions, professional football wants to continue its work to raise awareness in as many people as possible. In this context, the LFP calls on all clubs and players to meet this weekend before the start of the matches in Ligue 1 Uber Eats Round 14 and Ligue 2 BKT Round 15 around the slogan "Let's continue to make progress against racism". This slogan, which has accompanied the LFP's action against racism since the beginning of a campaign with LICRA, which started in January 2020, underlines that the fight against racism is a daily battle that must be won on all grounds - and concerns everyone.
