Kylian Mbappé has admitted he has not yet decided whether to sign a new contract at Paris Saint-Germain, with his existing deal due to expire at the end of next season.

“We are in discussions with the club and I am thinking about it because I think if I sign it will be a long-term commitment to Paris Saint-Germain,” Mbappé, who turned 22 in December, told broadcaster Téléfoot after scoring twice in PSG’s 4-0 defeat of Montpellier on Friday.

The France striker signed for his hometown team from AS Monaco in 2017 and has won a host of honours at PSG, including three Ligue 1 titles. He recently scored his 100th goal for the club too.

“I am very happy here. I have always been very happy. The supporters and the club have always helped me and for that alone I will always be grateful to the club but I want to reflect and think about what I want to do in the coming years, where I want to be, and that is what I am thinking about. I will need to decide soon but I am still mulling it over,” he said.

With his current contract expiring in 2022, Mbappé will be the subject of increasing interest from the biggest clubs elsewhere in Europe if he does not agree to a new deal at the Parc des Princes soon.

But he insisted: “I am not trying to buy time. I am thinking things through and I don’t want to sign a contract and then decide a year later that I want to leave. If I sign it will be to stay here.”
