Jonathan David has scored three goals in his last four games as Ligue 1 Uber Eats leaders LOSC head to the Stade de la Beaujoire to take on FC Nantes on Sunday evening.

FC Nantes - LOSC

- Kick-off: 16:00 GMT

Canadian youngster David's arrival at Lille from Belgian side Gent last summer generated significant attention, but he took a while to get going at the point of les Dogues' attack.

The 21-year-old started the reverse fixture - a 2-0 win for LOSC - but it was a Nicolas Pallois own goal and Burak Yilmaz penalty which separated the sides. Indeed, the forward didn't open his account until the 4-0 win over FC Lorient two months later; 11 games into his Lille career.

Game-changer

Coach Christophe Galtier's persistence - and indeed the player's - has paid dividends in recent weeks though, with two of his January goals, against Stade de Reims and Stade Rennais FC, turning draws into wins for his side.

The game was already safe when he added to Yusuf Yazici and Timothy Weah strikes against Girondins de Bordeaux on Wednesday; but the 3-0 win kept LOSC top of Ligue 1 Uber Eats, two points clear of Olympique Lyonnais and three of champions Paris Saint-Germain.

"Mike surely made the difference," said Galtier, singling out goalkeeper Mike Maignan for praise despite all the goals at the other end. "He was decisive. Benoît Costil didn't have a lot of saves to make and Mike saved three, keeping us in the game.

"I think the team expressed themselves well. We were much better having been able to make five changes. Why am I winning as a coach right now? Because I have good players at my disposal."

That luxury of choice despite the flurry of fixtures is helped by the fact that Yilmaz, with a calf complaint, is the only injury absentee the coach has to contend with. Luiz Araujo and Domagoj Bradaric are among those pushing for inclusion from the start having been rested in midweek.

Clipped wings

Hosts Nantes begin the day 16 places and 32 points worse off than their visitors in 17th, only above FC Lorient in the relegation play-off place by virtue of their marginally superior goal-difference.

Les Canaris have lost each of their last five games against Lille, their last victory over Sunday's opponents coming back in September 2015 when Jules Iloki - now in China with Suzhou Dongwu - scored in a 1-0 win at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

Three-point hauls have proven just as elusive for Raymond Domenech since the 69-year-old former France manager succeeded Christian Gourcuff in the Stade de la Beaujoire dugout in December.

Wednesday's 1-1 draw at AS Saint-Étienne, in which Randal Kolo's opener was cancelled out by Mahdi Camara, made Domenech the first coach in Nantes history to fail to win any of his first five league games, but he was quick to draw positives from the game.

'Have to take our chances'

"I'm satisfied with how we played but disappointed with the result," he said. "We did enough to win this match, but we also know how physical Saint-Étienne can be on set pieces. We were able to do some things going forward that we hadn't done before. The first step is creating chances. Now we have to take them!"

Pallois, Charles Traoré and Marcus Coco are all at risk of suspension, but Roli Pereira de Sa (calf) is the only player Domenech has to do without on Sunday, so expect a full-strength side, despite the quick turnaround in fixtures.

Possible line-ups

Nantes: Lafont; Corchia, Castelletto, Pallois, Traoré; Girotto; Coco, Blas, Touré, Louza; Kolo

LOSC: Maignan; Çelik, Fonte, Botman, Bradaric; Araujo, André, Soumaré, Bamba; Yazici, David
