The pace is ferocious in a remarkable Ligue 1 Uber Eats title race with the top four clubs all winning over the weekend.

Playing last of the leading quartet, champions Paris Saint-Germain were under extreme pressure as they went into the 100th Classique in all competitions at Olympique de Marseille on Sunday evening.  An early Kylian Mbappé goal at the end of a blistering breakout settled nerves and Mauro Icardi added the second in a 2-0 win. OM's Dimitri Payet was sent off late on for a kick to Marco Verratti's chest.

Pochettino: "Important to have this type of happiness"

PSG coach Maurico Pochhetino enjoyed his second success against the club's arch-rivals in under a month with the capital club having seen off the same opposition to lift the Trophée des Champions in January. Pochettino said: "I'm really happy for the players, the supporters, the coaching staff and the club. I think that winning this type of game is important to everybody. After a month of working together to construct a relationship and to continue to improve day by day, I think it's important to have this type of happiness and win."

PSG are third in the table, a point behind Lyon and three points back from leaders Lille, who enjoyed a 2-0 success at Nantes on Sunday afternoon secured by Jonathan David's first double in the French game. LOSC have won six straight matches to stay ahead of the chasing pack as they bid for a first Ligue 1 crown since 2011.

Galtier: "Magnificent run"

LOSC coach Christophe Galtier said: "We're on a magnificent run but we can see that we're not pulling clear because everybody is winning. We're up there at the top and we don't want to give up that position."

Depay overtakes Benzema, Golovin hat-trick

Lyon were the first of the leading contenders to play and they beat Strasbourg 3-0 on Saturday with captain Memphis Depay scoring a superb double. Now on 67 goals for Lyon, Depay said: "I've overtaken Karim Benzema in the total number of goals scored for the club. He's a great forward who carries on scoring goals but I don't want to compare myself to him. I'm happy with my performances and my statistics."

Alexsandr Golovin became the first Russian to score a Ligue 1 hat-trick as Monaco edged out Nîmes 4-3 in a thriller. Monaco have won all seven league matches they've played in 2021, scoring a mighty 22 goals in the process. As well as scoring three, Golovin set up the other for Kevin Volland and the German commented: "It's crazy what Golo did. He's really an excellent player and he's obviously the man of the match."

In-form Lorient beat Reims 1-0 on Saturday through a Laurent Abergel goal as their survival hopes received another boost. Saint-Etienne made it seven points from three matches as they beat Metz 1-0, Nice ended a run of eight home games without a win as they saw off Angers 3-0 and after five matches without the taste of victory Brest enjoyed a 2-1 home success against Bordeaux. Gaëtan Laborde scored two as Montpellier beat Dijon 4-2, while Rennes' hopes of getting back into the race for a top-three finish were hit by a 0-0 draw at Lens.
