Paris Saint-Germain star Angel Di Maria's thigh injury is set to keep him out of next Tuesday's Champions League match at Barcelona.
Last season's finalists in the competition head to the Nou Camp for the first leg of the mouthwatering Round of 16 tie but are all but certain to be without their Argentinian attacker, who went off injured in Sunday evening's 2-0 league win at Paris Saint-Germain.
Coach Mauricio Pochettino said: "As the club said, there'll be further communication within the week concerning Angel but his participation in the match against Barcelona is compromised. His absence isn't a reason to change our ideas. We'll find the best available solutions. His absence isn't a reason to change our ideas. We'll find the best possible solutions. Angel has played a lot and he's an important player for us. But there are other players who can play and enable us to win matches."
PSG kick off their defence of the Coupe de France on Wednesday evening at second tier Caen. Joining Di Maria on the absentees list are the likes of Marco Verratti - suffering from a brusied hip - and goalkeeper Keylor Navas, still struggling with a groin problem.
"We need to perform in all competitions"
Pochettino added: "We're not testing things in other competitions. We need to perform in all competitions. Against Caen, we'll need to play the best we can in order to win."
