Antoine Kombouaré has been named the new coach of Nantes, taking over from Raymond Domenech.

69-year-old former France boss Domenech has been relieved of his duties after failing to win any of his first seven league games in charge of Les Canaris, the worst start to a coaching reign in the club's history.

Nantes confirmed the news of Domenech's exit and the 57-year-old Kombouaré's arrival following the 4-2 Coupe de France loss at home to Lens on Wednesday evening. Kombouaré was most recently in charge of Toulouse, sacked 13 months ago following a Coupe de France exit to fourth-tier opposition Saint-Pryvé-Saint-Hilaire, the club's sixth straight defeat in all competitions.

Kombouaré becomes Nantes' fourth coach of a tumultuous season, following on from Christian Gourcuff, Patrick Collot (interim) and Domenech. Kombouaré , who started his playing career at Nantes, has the task of reviving the fortunes of a club without a win since November 8. Nantes are 18th in the Ligue 1 Uber Eats table.
