Angers boss Stéphane Moulin - the longest-serving currently active Ligue 1 Uber Eats coach - announced on Friday that he will be calling time on his decade-long tenure with the Scoïstes come the end of Eason 2021-22.

Moulin, 53, made the announcement in a press conference on Friday, declaring that he feels his time in the job - in which he has excelled since 2011 - has run its course.

"I have decided to stop at the end of the season," said the beloved and highly respected Angers coach. "I felt that this season was difficult and trying. I made my decision before the match against Metz [1-0 for SCO on 3 March]. I've been living with it for some time. This will allow the club to prepare serenely for next season. It's my decision."

Promotion, cup final

A former Angers player and reserve-team coach, Moulin took the senior-team reins in 2011 and had the club back in the top flight by 2015. Known for forging quality sides without the need for star power - and for unearthing top talents like Karl Toko Ekambi and Jeff Reine-Adélaïde - Moulin took Angers to the Coupe de France final in 2017 (1-0 defeat to PSG).

Moulin, whose coaching staff will go with him at the end of the campaign, is currently the longest-serving coach in Europe's top five leagues (likely to be overtaken by Atlético Madrid's Diego Simeone next season) and has presided over 398 matches with Angers for 149 wins, 106 draws and 143 defeats in all competitions.

Angers, 10th in Ligue 1 and virtually assured of top-flight survival, will host Montpellier in their Round 31 Ligue 1 Uber Eats clash on 4 April.
