Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos has urged his side to show their killer instinct in front of goal when they face Bayern Munich in Wednesday's UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg.

The Parisians head to Germany to face the team that denied them a first European title last summer. PSG had chances in the final in Lisbon only to lose out to a Kingsley Coman header in Lisbon.

Marquinhos wants opportunities taken when they come at the Allianz Arena.

"These kind of matches come down to minute details, we will need to be ruthless in front of goal, take our chances and it will be the same for them. We know that tomorrow it will be the same thing, and it will come down to tiny details. But we won't approach the match looking for revenge, it's another context, another match, it can be a motivating factor for some, but the context is different today," said the Brazil international.

"The morale is very good, we can't wait to be there. When big matches like these come along, we are very motivated and we like to battle it out with other top players. We have got one more day to prepare well and analyse our opponent. We know that they have top players, they are a team in fine form and are unbeaten in the Champions League, we need to put in a very good performance and come home with a good result."

Leandro Paredes is suspended and the Argentina international midfielder is just one of a long list of absentees who include Marco Verratti, Alessandro Florenzi, Mauro Icardi and Layvin Kurzawa.

With his first-choice midfield pair out, coach Mauricio Pochettino will likely put the fit-again Danilo Perreira alongside Idrissa Gueye in the centre of the pitch with Thilo Kehrer or Colin Dagba at right-back in place of COVID-19 victim Florenzi.

Sent off late in the weekend defeat to Lille, Neymar will be available for the game as Pochettino looks to his team to correct the errors they made in the 1-0 loss to their Ligue 1 Uber Eats rivals.

"Each team has its own characteristics. Bayern play high up the pitch, they've got quick players out wide, players capable of knocking opponents off balance. It'll be a question of balance for us, to find the right set-up. We'll have to limit their transitions, that's something we didn't manage to do against Lille on Saturday."

"People focus a lot on certain players in our team, but we have a lot of players who can make the difference. The players who'll be out there on the pitch and those who'll come off the bench could make all the difference for us. The whole squad is committed and wants to come back from Munich with a good result."
