The qualification of Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco for the final of the Coupe de France means that there is now an additional Europa League place available to Ligue 1 Uber Eats sides!

Olympique de Marseille (fifth, 56 points, goal difference +6), RC Lens (sixth, 56 pts, +4) and Stade Rennais FC (seventh, 55 pts, +11) are all within touching distance of each other with two games to go. While the three clubs have been engaged in an intense battle for fifth place, the good news is that now sixth place also qualifies for Europe.

The reason? Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco, already assured of qualification for Europe through the league, will face each other in the final of the Coupe de France, freeing up a direct ticket to the Europa League.

Lens provisionally in Europa League Conference

As a result, the club finishing fifth in Ligue 1 Uber Eats will qualify directly for the Europa League and the sixth-placed side will be in the Europa League Conference. To sum up, Olympique de Marseille are currently qualified for the Europa League group stage while RC Lens are set for the Europa League Conference... but of course everything can still change in the last two rounds of the season.

One thing is for sure: among OM, RC Lens and Stade Rennais, there will be a loser. Montpellier (seventh, 50 pts, -3) are not mathematically eliminated from this race but they will have to count on a collapse of the other three while winning both of their matches in order to make a return to Europe.
