LOSC midfielder Xeka, scorer of the winning goal in the 2021 Trophée des Champions against Paris Saint-Germain, was named man of the match in last night's clash.

Xeka gave LOSC their first-ever Trophée des Champions with a magnificent strike just before the break (45').

The Portuguese midfielder came in for praise by Ligue 1 Uber Eats fans, and collected 45.4% of the vote for Man of the Match.

Xeka was presented with the trophy at the end of the game and revealed that he was delighted with the award in addition to lifting the Trophée de Champions title.

"The Man of the Match trophy is a bonus," said an elated Xeka. "We played as we usually do, as we have done in recent years. LOSC has a very special identity and we showed it again this evening.  We deserve this trophy.  I'm very happy to be named man of the match but for me the most important thing is the team. We won and now we can celebrate it all together, again, a few months after winning Ligue 1 Uber Eats."

Ignoring the doubters

Xeka revealed that any outside distractions would not deter the champions from achieving their objectives this season.

"I know there are a lot of doubts around the club but inside, we know our worth," said the midfielder fresh from scoring just the tenth goal of his senior career. "We often show it during matches, the championship, during the Cups, all the competitions in which LOSC participates, we show our identity. This is what characterises us, and this is what we must continue to do."
