Gaëtan Laborde is really taking to life at new club Stade Rennais FC, scoring for a fourth match in a row in Sunday's 3-0 win over FC Metz to take sole control of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats scorers chart - two clear of Kylian Mbappé - with seven for the season so far.
Gaëtan Laborde, who bagged a goal and an assist in Rennes' 2-0 upset of Paris Saint-Germain just before the international break, found the net again on Sunday as Rennes ran riot in Metz (0-3). It was a superb back-heel volley that took him to four goals with Les Rouge et Noir and seven for the season (three with Montpellier before his transfer) - the best total in Ligue 1 Uber Eats at the end of Round 10.
In the steps of Alexander Frei
Only a few weeks after his arrival in Brittany, Gaëtan Laborde has already made a place for himself in the SRFC record books. With goals in four consecutive Ligue 1 Uber Eats matches (Clermont, Bordeaux, PSG, Metz), the Frenchman is the first Rennes player to achieve such a performance in the same year since the legend Alexander Frei in August 2004 (also four).
Can he keep it going? Rennes' Round 11 opponents Strasbourg - coached by former Rennes boss Julien Stéphan - have been warned!
