Assists: Jonathan Clauss back to his old tricks

By notching his fourth assist of the season in Round 11 RC Lens' Jonathan Clauss got to within one length of top spot on the official Ligue 1 Uber Eats assists chart, which is still occupied by Nantes' Nigerian international Moses Simon.

The threat to Moses Simon is becoming clearer. Behind the leader of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats official assists chart, there are now five players - including Jonathan Clauss - who are just one assist off the pace. The RC Lens right-sided full-back returned to the foot of the podium in Round 11 11 when he turned in a sublime cross to set up Przemyslaw Frankowski to score Lens' final goal in the 4-1 win over FC Metz.

With a long, precise curling cross after 90 minutes of play, the Lens defender bagged his fourth assist and moved up to fourth place on the table. The only reason that Clauss does not find himself on the podium after Round 11 is Monaco's Caio Henrique. On Sunday, the AS Monaco left-back also bagged his fourth assist of the season, setting up Kevin Volland to take third place thanks to his number of assists provided in open play.

The Brazilian has provided three assists in his last three Ligue 1 Uber Eats outings and now now has a total of eight since his Ligue 1 Uber Eats debut with ASM - including 4 for Kevin Volland alone. Only Jonathan Clauss has done better among the league's defenders over the period (ten).

Jimmy Cabot on the rise

The third player to have handed out his fourth assist Round 11, Jimmy Cabot, completes the top five. At Saint-Etienne, the Angers SCO right-back set up Angelo Fulgini to score their second goal in the 2-2 draw. In eleven games, the former Lorient man has already equalled his record of assists in a Ligue 1 Uber Eats season, achieved during the 2016-17 season with Les Merlus.

A little further down the table, Sébastien Corchia has edged into the top ten. With a third assist in five games, the FC Nantes defender jumped seven places and is now just two units behind teammate Moses Simon.
