Wahbi Khazri scored an early contender for Goal of the Season on Saturday, finding the target from fully 68 metres out to rescue a 1-1 draw for AS Saint-Étienne at FC Metz.
Farid Boulaya had opened the scoring early on at the Stade Saint-Symphorien but Khazri responded just seven minutes later, picking up the ball in his own half before spotting Alexandre Oukidja off his line.
Most players might not even attempt the shot, let along pull it off, but apparently such a wondergoal has been coming for the talented Tunisian attacker.
"I picked up the ball and saw no other solutions," he explained. "I saw the goalkeeper advanced and told myself to test him. It wasn't down to chance.
"I've tried it a lot, sometimes they make fun of me, but when it comes off it's great. It's good for the team above all."
"We're not surprised because he's tried it even or eight times since the start of the season!" added coach Claude Puel. "It's a stroke of genius, pure talent, that he can do that."
Puel's opposite number Frédéric Antonetti and Khazri are fellow Corsicans who both have SC Bastia, Saint-Étienne and Stade Rennais FC on their footballing CVs. Antonetti has been long aware of Khazri's talent, and could hardly grudge him the equaliser.
"He made a classy gesture, well done," he said. "He had the inspiration of the great player that he is, I know it from Bastia. The goalkeeper's position was normal, it was simply a magnificent goal."
